Horseback Riding
Over 3,000 acres of winding trails for horseback riding make the Lake Whitney area a great place for equestrian adventures. In recent years, many miles of equestrian trails have been added to two of the Corps-managed parks, McCown Valley and Plowman Creek.
These are fantastic sandy land trails with horse facilities, views of the lake, and RV accommodations for overnight campers. Riders can enjoy the 12-1/2 mile Hopewell Trail, and stay at the Equestrian Camping facility at Plowman Creek Park.
Those who have ridden these trails come back often to surrender themselves to the graceful beauty of lakeside rides and the ever present wild birds and animals along the shoreline.
