Hill Regional Hospital Welcomes New General Surgeon

Hill County Surgical Services and Hill Regional Hospital are excited to welcome our new full time board certified General Surgeon, Dr. Craig Thompson.  Dr. Thompson comes to us with 17 years of experience from Maine where he has been in private practice for the last six years at a small community hospital. DrThompson

Dr. Thompson graduated medical school and completed his residency in general surgery from Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He joins the staff at Hill County Surgical Services starting April 4, 2016 and specializes in all areas of general surgery including breast and skin cancers.  Preventive care colonoscopies and endoscopies are also available with Dr. Thompson.  Dr. Thompson performs minimally invasive surgical procedures; which means smaller scars, less pain, and faster healing times compared to traditional surgery.

With him, Dr. Thompson brings his wife of 20 years, Jeanne, and their 2 teenage sons.  Dr. Thompson’s philosophy of care fits right in with our community.  “I want the people of Hill County to know that smaller hospitals can sometimes do things better than the big cities. You can be taken care of by people that know you and your family and that can be a real source of comfort.”  He continued, “There’s always a need for the bigger hospitals and the specialists there but good safe surgical access is around the corner at Hill Regional Hospital.”

Dr. Thompson is currently scheduling new patients and same day appointments will often be available starting April 4th.   For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact his office at 254-580-9989.
