Discover Downtown Whitney and Classic Car Show

Downtown Whitney opens its doors for a day of shopping and classic cars.

One of the streets in town is closed to traffic for the day, and dozens of classic vehicles and their proud owners arrive for the show.

The Classic Car Show runs from mid-morning through mid-afternoon. Each visitor receives a ballot to vote for the People’s Choice award. Official judges inspect each vehicle to determine winners in all of the other categories.

Trophies are awarded in the following categories:

• Best Cars (top 3 cars in each Car category receive a trophy)
  • 1948 and earlier
  • 1949 – 1959
  • 1960 – 1969
  • 1970 – 1979
  • 1980 and up
• Best Motorcycle
• Best Trucks
  • 1959 and earlier
  • 1960 and up

Downtown merchants are open all day long, from 10 am – 5 pm. “Mom and Pop” businesses offer items not found in the big city.

You’ll find several shops with antiques, crafts and gifts, and there’s an old-fashioned hardware store in town too. Poke your head in a few of the shops, and we bet you’ll find something unique to take home with you.
